Posting Recipes from My Cookbooks

February 26, 2008

I realize that the quickest way for me to share the recipes that have brought me a lot of inspiration and made countless people happy would be to post the recipes here directly. While I enjoy the emails from friends and people I have never met, it would make the transfer of information easier and more accurate. Copyright concerns aside, this is for transfer of information only, and who knows? it may even prod the readers to purchase the book.

Perhaps I should mention as way of an introduction that I have a very eclectic cookbook collection. I don’t just buy cookbooks (or any book for that matter) based on reviews. The stranger the cook book the more I have to have it. The strangest bunch of misfits line my shelves jumbled together with my favorite authors. Even the Nancy Drew cook book has a place in my shelf. Some are strictly for the gorgeous photographs that inspire even the most jaded of chefs to create and recreate, while a handful are those really thick expensive affairs that were once used to instruct eager students. Then there are the old stand-by’s that chronicle the “basics” in baking and the encyclopedia like volumes that traces not only the what’s but also the why’s behind the simplest ingredient. The most treasured of all these are the dog-eared and stained books that were handed down to me by my late Uncles, Aunties and Titas. And don’t get me started on the magazines and countless cut-outs and print-outs from old newspapers, newsletters, ads and magazines.
